FDA Authorizes First COVID-19 Vaccine for Children Aged 5-11

Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine was authorized by the American Food and Drug Administration for children aged 5-11 Friday October 29th after a study of 3100 children in this age group showed 90.7% vaccine efficacy and immune protection similar to that in adolescents and young adults. The vaccine has also been demonstrated to be safe, with no serious side effects reported.
